OPENING NIGHT RECEPTION

1650 Gallery is hosting a solo painting exhibition by
Jodi Scott Elliott
SLEEPING OVER IN WEIMAR
Springing from the same well as the artistic, social and sexual revolution of 1920's Berlin, the paintings of Jodi Scott Elliott present a daring look into the present day female psyche through the familiar and artistically exciting prism of the great themes of Weimar Germany; isolation and longing, lust and love, and the intersection of physical and mental desire. This journal of emotions is set against the backdrop of the financial and cultural minefield of 'life in the big city', making the race for personal completion all the more dire.
Working in a mix of acrylics, watercolor and collage, Elliott brings a confessional edge and raw excitement to her work; keyholes through which she allows us to glimpse the secret world of a modern, complex woman for as long as we dare not look away.
